D4vd - Here With Me



Singer-songwriter and producer d4vd (real name David Anthony Burke) crafted this dreamy, tropical number out of a reworked, key-shifted sample of South Korean producer Blueday's "Snowday". I gotta say that while finding that out caught me completely by surprise considering how original the song sounds, I'm not complaining at all. Sampling is an art form unto itself and can make for amazing music if done right, while also shining a spotlight on lesser-known artists who deserve the recognition.   

D4vd did an immaculate job on the production here and made the sample his own, turning a slow, romantic, wintry song into something that sounds just like the video thumbnail above looks, if that makes any sense. With a lethargic soft rock-infused bedroom pop beat and bittersweet, romantic lyrics about lasting love, listening to this makes me feel like I'm on a tropical island, watching the night creep in with the one I love as the sun sets over the shimmering sea.

Laufey (pronounced LOY-VEY ) is kind of an anomaly in the modern pop landscape, and I mean that in the best possible sense.  If you’re on TikTok, you most certainly know her, and if you don’t, allow me to fill you in.
